Acoustics
More than anything, what separates the classical recording from a regular studio recording is the inte-gration of room acoustics. Good acoustics are so important a part of the overall sound quality that they cannot be properly substituted by adding artificial reverb.
Therefore Micropascal’s philosophy is to record music ‘on location’: to allow it to expand acoustically in the setting in which it belongs. The technical challenge consists of finding the location’s acoustic sweet spots that allow the recording to capture as natural a reverberation as possible. The reward is a depth and openness that brings lift and fullness to the music.
What are ’good acoustics’?
Despite the fact that it is difficult to explain the meaning of ‘good acoustics’, there are some firm criteria that must be met to achieve it: even sound distribution, appropriate reverberation, no echo / flutter echo,
no background noise. Ultimately, acoustics is an exact science interpreted from a sound-aesthetic perspective.
Micropascal has in-depth knowledge of the best recording venues as well as extensive acoustic experience recording in them. Often Micropascal can provide advice and consulting services right from the time you choose your recording venue. You are welcome to contact me to discuss your project and find just the right recording venue for you.
